Batticaloa Regional Office of Coconut Cultivation Board has been established for providing services to the Northern areas of Eastern Province. It provides services in 348 Grama Niladari Divisions belong to 14 Divisional Secretarial Divisions. It disseminates its services through 6 CDO offices of 6 CDO ranges situated in 19 Agrarian Service Divisions.

The regional office area spreads over 2403.19 Km² of total lands and agricultural lands occupied 4,592,950 Acre. The area under coconut lands are reported to be 8,741 acres and the total no of coconut trees accounted to be 548,350.

Main Agro Ecological Zones of the area is Low Country Dry Zone (DL). The mean annual rain fall is 2056 mm which varies from 864 mm to 3881 mm and the mean annual temperature is 28.5 °C which varies from 25° C to 35.4°C.
